Off-Page Search Engine Optimisation – Update

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

We’ve discussed the basic premise of Search Engine Optimisation, (including factors pertinent to ‘on-page’ optimising) in an earlier feature. However, what really matters concerns off-page SEO. It’s rather like a voting scheme. One website volunteers a link or vote to another website. They’re suggesting the site is worth looking at.

There are 2 main bits to the link. First, the actual URL or web address of the page they are pointing to. Then secondly the keyword phrase. This will be highlighted on the web page. That page can then be seen as receiving one ‘vote’. In other words one ‘vote’ to push the website up the natural listings.

This is always how it works. The page being targeted and the Anchor Text are permanently linked to each other. Otherwise it doesn’t work! The anchor text notifies the Search Engine about the page’s content – and thus what search term it should come under. This is vital to understand: Anchor texts are responsible for all the searches your site appears for.

So it becomes obvious why ‘CLICK HERE to learn more’ has no SEO value. We’ve done no more than give those two words our vote! Who thinks of typing in ‘CLICK HERE’ when they’re doing a search? Not a soul!

That is why the anchor text is SO important. Because that’s what controls the phrases you will rank for. And by the way, if you DO Google “Click Here” you will always find the Adobe Reader download site at the top. Is that an important term to Adobe? Of course not! But they’re up at the top because the phrase “CLICK HERE to Download Adobe reader” features on so many websites.

In short, anchor text phrases are always used by the SE’s to place a vote. It’s quite sensible really. The process attempts to use human logic for looking and searching. In fact, the actual subject matter of your page could be quite different. You’ll rank for the terms in the anchor text phrases that point to you. That is how it is.

Obviously, a few other things come into it – Because the SE’s also use the page title and wording of the page being pointed at to correlate the results. And many more factors too. (To give you an idea, the spread of the sites linking to yours, and their relevancy to your site).

The crux of it all is though that a mass of back links solves all the problems! And these need to be from as many different sites as possible – with the correct phrases used as anchor text. A site’s quality is taken into account as well: Receiving a link from a top site like Microsoft is much more valuable than one from a start-up site.

Picking the keyword phrases that you want to rate for is an art in itself. (And you should perform a lot of keyword and competitor research before putting any strategy into place.) The key really though is – What does an enquirer search for when they’re looking for your products and services? Because that’s it! The answers give you your exact keyword phrases.

And yet it’s not a case of guesswork. The best results are sometimes quite unexpected. Individuals can be quite random in the way they express themselves. One person looking for a good night’s sleep might type in “Orthopaedic beds” or “New Mattress”. Yet ‘more sleep please’ could be someone else’s first thought.

You just can’t trust your ‘gut feel’! The importance of the investigation, testing and measuring of these phrases cannot be underestimated. They are fundamental to generating your leads on the internet. It’s just like having an ad in a telephone Directory. If you’re a Plumber and you’re listed under Stationary Providers, you won’t get much business! It’s very important to be listed for the right terms online. Solid SEO research will take care of that.

Interior Design Schools

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Have you got an aptitude for interior design? Are you always rearranging your room, or telling your friends and family that the piece of pottery they bought yesterday would look great in that corner? Then, the best place you could be to utilise your skills is one of the many interior design colleges that are around these days.

With a little help and a little gentle prodding you could find yourself well on the way to setting up your own interior designing business. Then you’d be in the place that everyone wants to be: doing a job that they love and enjoy. So, what are these interior design colleges and what can they do for you?

Well, to begin with, the number of interior design colleges that you will come across in your search will be large and at times even overwhelming. If you do a search on the Internet or just call up the colleges and ask for a course catalogue you can then make an informed decision about which of the interior design colleges you choose to attend.

If your life is too hectic these days, but you still want to try a course or two, you have the choice of going for any of the Internet interior design colleges that are so numerous these days. Or maybe you could even try a night course or correspondence course in your pursuit of knowledge about interior design.

All of these interior design colleges teach basically the same things and will develop your own natural abilities. You’ll learn everything from the basics up and will be given an insight into why certain colours match well next to each other and why other colours don’t.

You’ll learn when to use the rules that you’re taught and when you can break them. But above all, you’ll learn how to use your natural design abilities with the knowledge that you’ve gathered at the college and blend it into a mix that is vastly pleasing to the eye.

Moreover, if interior design colleges are your thing then you can be assured of coming away with a lot more than only knowledge on how to place what colour next to what colour to get a stunning effect. By taking at least one or two courses, or even by doing the whole range of courses offered to you, you’ll be expanding your natural interior design abilities at least a hundred times.

There’s nothing quite like having a confidence boost to stave up your own natural skills and to be able to tell someone with absolute confidence that you are a bona fide interior designer.

Credit Repair Basics

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Having accepted credit, you are using someone else’s money as payment for your purchases. In addition, it also indicates that you guarantee to repay the money to the agency or person that loaned you the money.

If you are applying for a loan, credit card or mortgage, it is normal for the agency or bank to check up on your credit worthiness. This is essentially based on an assessment of your credit history, thereby helping them assess the possible risks of the deal and decide the terms of the loan. A positive assessment means that you have a good financial background, which increases your chance of being granted credit.

Credit Repair: This is the process, by which people with a poor credit history try to re-establish their credit worthiness. It involves procuring a copy of your credit status from the reporting agencies and taking careful and appropriate steps to address apparent issues, such as omissions, mis-reporting, mis-interpretation or any other inaccuracies.

If there are any discrepancies found in the credit report, the consumer is entitled to dispute the errors that have unjustly damaged their credit worthiness. There are several laws and regulations that are meant to guarantee the fair and legal reporting of someone’s credit worthiness. You can make use of these laws to legally and formally start the process of repairing your credit.

Everybody is entitled to one copy of his/her credit history each year from each credit reporting agency. You will have to investigate the true nature of the errors in order to ensure successful credit repair.

Your credit rating affects your purchasing ability and eligibility for acquiring credit facilities in the future. You should keep in mind that a good credit rating can help in several spheres like as: mortgaging a home, buying a car or even applying for a job. On the other hand, a bad credit rating can make you susceptible to outrageous interest rates and unnecessary loan terms from the loan agencies. These two facets are important to help you understand why upholding a good credit score is really quite vital.

How to Repair Your Credit: The process of credit repair can be achieved through conscientious work and discipline. Some firms will offer you easy methods to help you repair poor credit history and they can be quite tempting. However, these easy ways-out can also create further difficulties in the future, especially if they are illegal.

If your poor credit rating was caused by issues beyond your control, you can request an upgrade of your credit rating from your creditor, but this may only be possible, if you have been able to make amends to your credit records afterwards.

Creditors do not normally trust consumers who have defaulted on their payments. This can create difficulties for you in obtaining further credit. However, once you are able to show a stable income and patterns of prompt payments, the situation could improve in the span of two to three years. This way, even if there was a bankruptcy, you are likely to be eligible for credit cards within two years, if a steady income is maintained.

Bear in mind that there are no quick fixes when you are trying to repair your credit. However, by contacting the credit bureaux, correcting any errors, budgeting and consolidating your debts, you can increase your own credit rating really very quickly.

Interior Decorating Ideas

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

The coldness of winter has got you by your short tails and you’re pfaffing around trying to decide what to do with yourself. You’re snowbound and the only thing that you can think to do is sit in front of the fire, drink your steaming hot mug of chocolate and stare broodingly out of the window. The only problem with that is, you’ve already done that and you’ve have had your fill of fires, hot chocolate and brooding.

Now you’re ready to do something different. So, you turn to the only solace you have and switch on the TV. You’re instantly enthralled as you come across one of those many shows about how you can do up your home. You find yourself inundated with decorating ideas: interior decor and exterior decor, you name it and they’ll have it on the TV.

So, you finally find yourself entranced by something that you would have dismissed earlier and jump out of your seat to get a pen and notebook to jot down all those great ideas. Before long, you’ve run out of room in your notebook and have to leave your comfortable chair to go get another one.

Before you get back to your chair, you’ve made a detour around your house and have seen many of the things that you’ve spent a lifetime trying to avoid – the cracks in the bedroom wall, the faint spot of mildew in the bathroom, the paint chipping off many of the walls.

The list is never ending and could go on for several pages. So you dutifully sit down, and alongside your notes on various decorating ideas on interior design and general redecorating, you meticulously note down all the little things that need fixing, replacing or refitting.

The list naturally spans more than even your second notebook can hold but you decide to stop there, because it’s more than your arm can take to continue writing, besides you already have all the pertinent facts at your fingertips, so now you set about sorting them out into directions that you can easily follow.

Not an easy job that, when your decorating ideas, interior designs and room-by-room list of snags is all jumbled up in one horrible pile. You then turn to the tried and true, ancient method of sitting on the floor and surrounding yourself with your notes in an attempt at finding some logical order you can follow later.

When you finally reach that sublime state of orderliness, you sit back with a tired but satisfied smile on your face. The knowledge that you’ll now have enough decorating ideas and interior design plans and less time on your hands during those long hard months of winter, sends a rush of contentment running through you. There’s nothing like a job well done and the foreknowledge that come springtime, your home will look nothing like its former self.

The Reasons Why Dogs Snore

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

We all know that it is not unusual for pet owners to allow their pets to sleep with them at night. In fact, one third of pet owners have at some point, allowed their pets to sleep on their beds. Dogs provide a companionship that can’t be given by any other breed of animal. However, this doesn’t mean to say that some people do not let their cats or another pets sleep with them too.

It is made easier too because dogs have a sleep pattern that is very much like ours. Dogs often rely on their masters with complete trust, which makes them a bit more relaxed during the night. This explains why most dogs fall to sleep easily and later on, enter into deep sleeps where REM sleep activities can occur. In fact, once dogs enter this stage, the owner needs to call them several times before they can truly be roused from sleep.

I’m sure, many of us have already seen a dog ‘running’ during sleep or at times, barking with his eyes closed. These dogs are said to be dreaming. Breathing patterns can also be observed among dogs. For instance, there are breeds which breathe more heavily while there are those who breathe very lightly. The heavy breathers are much more prone to snoring than those who do not breathe as heavily.

Some people find that dogs that snore are rather a nuisance during the night, depending on the degree and frequency of the phenomenon. Like with humans, there are various considerations why dogs snore, although most have to do with the blocking of the passage of air in the throat, which in turn is caused by the collapse of certain areas along the throat. It is the same problem as with human beings.

A snoring dog should be checked for various issues to determine which treatment can be best provided. Some dogs are especially prone to specific allergic reactions that cause constriction in the airway. It may also be that there is some excess tissue in the areas that are preventing proper breathing. It is best if a veterinarian checks on various factors through careful evaluation of the dog’s anatomical features and general physical symptoms.

Is you dog obese? I ask this because, like with humans, obese dogs are more likely to snore than thin ones. This is because they will have more tissue surrounding their windpipes. Therefore, they have excess tissue hanging around their throats, which can cause blockages. Once this problem has been fixed, the chances of snoring will be reduced. This would not only be healthy for your dogs, but you may eventually enjoy a decent night’s sleep too.

Snoring also has something to do with the general facial features. Some dogs seem to have squashed faces which narrows their air passages to a certain degree. The construction of their nasal passages also largely contributes to their difficulty of breathing. They are pretty much like humans with a cold, who are forced to breathe using only twenty-five percent of their nostril capacity. Dog breeds with shorter faces need to expend lots of effort to breathe properly. It costs them more work to control breathing and they are also more prone to snoring.

Minor surgery can give your dog great relief. Be sure though that, before any decision is made, you are well informed about the potential risks and consequences of surgery to stop a dog snoring. Most procedures are irreversible, so careful thought must be given to any operation you permit. In fact, it is best to follow the recommendations provided by your veterinary surgeon.

What is Fishing Equipment

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Fishing equipment is called fishing tackle by fishing aficionados and it usually refers to rods, lines, hooks, sinkers, spears, lures, bait, reels, nets, and so on. The fishing gear that is attached at the end of a line is called terminal tackle

The word tackle when it refers to fishing equipment comes from ‘takel’ which first meant the rigging on a ship, that is, the equipment consisting of ropes supporting a ship’s masts and sails. Later, the same word was recorded to have a another meaning, that of apparatus for fishing and that meaning has been preserved ever since then.

The most rudimentary fishing apparatus consists of a rod, a line, a hook, a lure, a bait and a weight or sinker. The line is a basic cord especially made for fishing that is both long, thin and yet strong, so that fish do not notice it. There are various things that an angler asks about when buying a fishing line, such as its resistance, stretch, strength and so on. The line will be selected based on what kind of fish the angler intends to catch.

The sinker or weight, also called a plummet, is really only a weight that helps in casting the hook and the bait as far as possible from the shoreline or from the boat that the fisherman is using. They are often made of lead as their purpose is also to sink and to get the bait closer to the fish in the water as quickly as possible. However, lead sinkers have been outlawed in some parts of the world, especially the very small ones, which are often called ’shot’. If ingested by birds or other fish, the lead, which is well-known for its high toxicity, will cause the death of the animal.

Another basic piece of fishing gear is the hook. This is a device meant for attaching the bait and for hooking into the fish’s mouth. It is attached to the line and the fisherman can choose from a pretty wide range of shapes, sizes and materials.

And last but far from least, is the bait or lure, without which fishing equipment cannot be effective. A lure is a man-made device tied at the end of the line that resembles the prey of the fish you are after in every way. Its raison d’etre is to attract the attention of the fish with its colour shape and movement. Artificial flies, tiddlers and sand eels come into under this category. When the fish eats the lure, it becomes hooked.

Whilst, bait, on the other hand, is the stuff physically attached to the hook. Bait is often of two types: animal or foodstuff: ‘animal’ refers to small fish or other water creatures, insects or crawlers and ‘foodstuff’ refers to things like grains, such as wheat, bread or whatever the angler believes might attract the fish.

Debt Consolidation and Reduction Loans

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

So, now you can see the writing on the wall, you are in up to your neck and your creditors are starting to call you in your home in the evenings as well. You know that you have to do something, but you’re not sure exactly what. It’s so embarrassing having to talk to that youngster from your creditor’s debt collection department, especially over the phone; but you don’t want to take time off work to go down to their offices either! And you can’t wish the problem away. You’ve heard of debt consolidation and reduction and you think you ought to look into it.

However, before you rush into debt consolidation and reduction loans, analyse your debts to calculate your total exposure. Debt is an avenue of credit lines given to you by creditors who thought that you would repay the sum borrowed or owed. When creditors become aware that you are behind on your repayments, they will often delay a couple of weeks before informing the collection agencies.

During this time, you ought to contact your creditors and ask for an extension, balance reduction, or even a complete termination of the debt. Creditors expect their money and therefore, they may extend your credit, since they want to avoid the problems that arise when reporting customers for non-payment.

Creditors do not really want to make enemies of their customers, because they expect their customers to show good faith and pay the debts and eventually continue doing business with them. If you fail to contact your creditors, however they will turn your files over to the collection agencies in the end if they have to. These agencies often use much more severe tactics to recover the money owed.

These agencies will try almost anything to stress you so much that you will go all out to find a method to pay up, or else pressurize you so much that you need to seek professional help. Debt consolidation and reduction is one of the processes of eliminating debts; a loan may or may not be required.

When you contact your creditors, ask for leniency, so you can work toward debt consolidation and reduction by cutting back on your expenses. If the creditors agree to debt consolidation and reduction by lowering your payments, terminating it, or else providing you with an extension and you don’t take advantage of their generous offer, ie, if you fail to start repaying after the offer is made, then they will not be as friendly the next time you have contact with them.

Make sure that you repay your debts as stipulated by your creditors to avoid any further complications. Communication is of the utmost importance, because if you have ceased talking to your creditors, they have every right to go all out to recover their money. This will help you in your debt consolidation and reduction.

Home Theater Lighting

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For example, you could commence by abandoning the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I suggest that you install four or even six small wall-lights. They need not be expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any pocket. The only drawback with wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be chased into the wall so as not to be visible.

However, you could avoid this by using standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two drawbacks: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class alternative, but you may need more electrical points.

Once you have decided on what you want, have each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately, up to you. You should probably keep one fairly powerful light at the business end of things in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lamps higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever type of home theater lighting you are looking for, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to choose from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them online or in home improvement stores. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

Furthermore, when you do implement the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will “definitely” enhance your home movie theater experience. In fact, it may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a very different light.

Free Weight Loss Diets

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The march to health and fitness is on and plenty of people are getting in on it. Some people do it in order to achieve a sexy body, some people do it because they are ashamed of their body as it is now, while others do it just to remain fit and healthy. Because of this, there are hundreds of health programs on the Internet, in gyms, spas and fitness centres all over the world. Some are too expensive – so expensive that you will lose weight quickly, just because you have to work hard to earn the money to pay for these fitness programs.

You might not have to go to the gymnasium, the spa or any fitness centre and spend much just to slim down and get that desired beautiful body. There are so many books in the bookshops offering diet programs which are easy and free. However, the books are not cheap though. These diet plans are gaining increased popularity because of their publicity, testimonials and reviews and you may be confused as to exactly which one to buy. So before you choose which weight loss plan to follow, try checking out the following precis of the most popular diet programs out today.

Atkins’ New Diet Revolution by Dr. Atkins: This weight loss program promotes a high protein diet with a restricted carbohydrate consumption. You can eat loads of vegetables and meat, but must not eat bread, rice or pasta. You are not restricted on your fat consumption so it is OK to pour on the (correct) salad dressing and freely spread on the butter. However, during the diet, some people may find themselves lacking fibre and high on fat and cholesterol. Grains and fruits are also strictly restricted.

The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet by Drs. Heller. This diet plan also recommends following a low carbohydrate diet. It suggests eating mostly meats, vegetables and fruit, dairy and grain products. however, warns against taking in too many carbohydrates. So-called “Reward Meals” can be quite high in fats and saturated fats.

Choose to Lose: by Dr. Goor. Restricts fat intake. You are given a “fat” budget and you are given free reign on how to use it. It does not pressure the individual to watch his carbohydrate consumption. Eating meat and poultry as well as low-fat dairy and seafood is fine. You may also eat vegetables, fruits, cereals, bread and pasta. This weight loss plan is fairly healthy, because it recommends healthy amounts of fruits and vegetables as well as saturated fats. Watch your triglyceride levels though. If they are high, trim down on the carbohydrates and eat more unsaturated fats.

The DASH Diet. Recommends eating a fairly moderate amount of fat and protein yet a great deal of carbohydrates. It was primarily created to reduce blood pressure. The diet plan follows the pyramid food guide and encourages a high intake of whole wheat grains and fruit and vegetables and low-fat dairy. However, some dieters consider it advises too much consumption to produce a significant weight loss.

Eat More, Weigh Less: by Dr. Ornish. Primarily vegetarian food and strictly low-fat. Warns to watch out for non-fat dairy and egg whites. This diet plan is poor in calcium and restricts the consumption of healthy foods like seafood and lean poultry.

Eat Right for Your Type: This scheme is really unusual because it bases its recommendations on your blood group. For example, it recommends lots of meat for people with the blood type O. However, diet plans for some blood types are nutritionally imbalanced and too low in calories. Furthermore, just for the record, there is no proof that blood type can affect dietary needs.

The Pritkin Principle: It focuses on cutting back on the number of calories by eating ‘watery’ foods that make you feel full. It recommends eating vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, pasta, soups, salads and low-fat dairy, which it says is fine, although it also limits protein sources to lean meat, seafood and poultry. It is healthy because it provides low amounts of saturated fats and high amounts of vegetables and fruits. However, it is low on calcium and restricts lean protein sources.

Volumetrics: It recommends eating fewer calories. It recommends roughly the same foodstuffs as Pritkin but restricts fatty food and dry foods like popcorn, pretzels and crackers. This diet is reasonably healthy given the high amounts of fruit and vegetables. It is also low in calories and saturated fats.

The Zone: It is fairly low on carbohydrates yet fairly high on proteins. It advises low-fat protein foods like fish and chicken plus vegetables, fruits and grains. It is also a healthy plan but short on grains and calcium.

Weight Watchers: They recommend high carbohydrate meals, but are moderate on fats and proteins. A very healthy diet plan and very flexible too. It allows the dieter to plan his own meals rather than offering recipes, although there are WW TV dinners in the shops.

50cc Scooters

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

50cc scooters have an engine capacity that classifies them as small motorcycles or mopeds at the limit between the vehicle category and moped classes. Regulations vary in many countries of the world, when it comes to the right to drive 50cc scooters with or without a driving license and common laws are seldom achieved. For example, in some EU countries you can ride such motorcycles without a driving license. The exceptions are France and Italy, where you need a car driving license to operate vehicles up to 125cc. There is quite a high level of legal ambiguity for the definition and classification of scooters.

The restrictions and licensing fees are a lot less for 50cc scooters and they are not legally defined as motorcycles. This definition applies to vehicles above the 50 cc engine capacity. However, an intermediary definition or class has been created by some countries. Therefore, between 50 and 150cc, vehicles are referred to as motorized bikes. In other parts of the world, 50cc scooters and above, are defined as motorcycles.

Hence, the terms of such a vehicle’s classification vary from state to state and cannot be discussed as if they are interchangeable. Therefore, when you shop for a scooter or you are searching for information, you have to take these facts into consideration as well in order to understand everything correctly.

As for technical features, 50cc scooters are among the smallest and best designed on the market. People love them because of their low cost, the reduced fuel consumption and the possibility of being used by teenagers and adults alike. They are chic and nippy at the same time, so such a vehicle is considered a cool alternative to public transport.

You can zip around with a scooter, getting over the traffic jams of heavy traffic. Even though they have a small cylinder capacity, 50cc scooters have four stroke engines with a high performance for various mobility and transportation uses.

However, 50cc scooters share common features with the larger models, because the design lines are usually kept almost the same by manufacturers. Therefore, there is an electric start and a kick start mode, the brakes and exhaust come in sports variants and they all have some form of storage space under the seat.

Before the purchase of such a small motorcycle, you should learn something about the certification for registration, the warranty, the fuel consumption and the technical limitations of the model. However, the same tips hold valid for larger designs too.
