Considering Sterling Silver Pendant From Silver.Ag

Friday, February 18th, 2011

The sterling silver pendant that hangs from the chain around the neck is an addition to the wardrobe that is seen to be very elegant and beautiful. Almost any outfit, casual or formal, is enhanced by the wearing of this accessory. It is something that can express the type of personality a person may have. The traits a pendant might express is as diverse as those who would wear one.

The diverse expression of those personality traits involves the many types of pendant designs that are available in the marketplace that one can chose from. Thus the pendant that you will end up wearing close to your heart will be the one that suits your sense of self. Therefore it will have a great personal meaning to you. That is especially so if the pendant is a gift from someone special to you.

Some of the available designs for a pendant include those that are heart shaped, gem encrusted, and one that is shaped in the letter that begins your name or the name of your significant other. The ones with the gems can have any stone you wish from rubies and diamonds to your birthstone. Heart shaped ones can be solid or cut out and have gems encrusted on them as well.

Other choices in design include ones that are shaped like a dragon, star, circle, and a design that is Gothic in origin. The star shaped pendant that hangs on a chain can truly make someone feel a bit special because of its bright silver shine. A dragon is in demand with those who have an interest in adding to their collection of Gothic themed merchandise. The round, or circular, shaped pendants can decorated with gems or engraved in almost any way desired by the wearer.

What then will help one choose the pendant that is right for themselves? Ask yourself if you feel some kind of connection on a personal level. Does it, as its been said, say something to you in some way? After all it is a piece of artwork and as such should grab your attention and fascination.

Of course there are other components involved in the choice of a sterling silver pendant. They include things like if it was cast and polished without losing much detail, where and how it was made, and the percentage of sterling silver in its makeup. Thus you will ultimately find that you have ended up with a piece that you will be proud to wear.

The First Wedding According To Darwin

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

The very first wedding was between two cave people who decided that there should be a ceremony and reception. The thinking was that the village (the first ever) always celebrated before and after a hunt. They boogied down deep into the night when the monsoon season ended and they celebrated the birth of the children, so why not celebrate when two cave people decided to move into their first cave and share a life together? Grog wanted to give the guests wedding presents because when they announced the ritual, to be held by the tribe’s holy man; everyone looked at them as if they were crazy and refused to come to the event claiming they had to wash each other’s hair and was way behind in picking bugs off each other.

This is how the very first wedding planner came to be. Winnie’s brother, Rock Stonehead suggested they give gifts to the tribe members who would show up. The problem was what to give. Trog was smart though, and he knew that when lightning struck the beach, the heating of the sand made glass, so he gathered up a bunch of it and picked up some of the shiny rocks that they had found while shopping for a good cave to spend their lives in. Therefore, each guest received glass-wedding favors and the tribe elders received crystal-wedding favors.

Trog and Winnie had a beautiful ceremony under a great tree that provided plenty of shade for the guests. Of course, they had to because the tribe’s holy man was not convinced that moving out of the trees was a good idea and still made his home there. The couple got married but they put their wedding rings through their nose instead of on their fingers. This is because they were still dragging knuckles and the rings kept falling off in the rocks and dirt. Many years later, one of trog and Winnies descendents started the tradition of putting the wedding ring on the finger because they had a cold and did not want to get snot on the ring. They placed it on the finger since their arms had shortened and no longer scraped the ground.

At Trog and Winnies wedding party, now known as a reception, the first thing they did after bandaging their heads was to create music. They had to bandage their heads because they did not have rice to throw back then so they threw sticks and rocks. The first wedding band was formed as the guests started to get bored and were dancing but there was no music. A friend of Trog was tapping on a log when everyone realized it sounded pretty good. After that, several of the tribe was joining in on the fun by beating the trees with the bones of the animals they had for supper the night before. Soon, the reception was really swinging.

Another tradition that was born on that first wedding was the kissing of the bride. Before this, they just went around licking each other’s faces. But Winnie, who loved to eat wild berries was about to open her mouth to speak when Trog went to give her their first lick as a married couple and stuck his tongue in her mouth quite by accident. It tasted so good that soon, everyone was eating berries and “kissing” each other.

The best part was when the couple finally got tired and the fire had burned so low that they could barely see. Trog took his new bride to their new cave to consummate their marriage. Unfortunately, there was no such thing as full disclosure so the cave estate agent that sold Trog and Winnie the cave did not tell them that there was still a saber-toothed tiger living in it and they were both eaten during the night.

How To Make Sympathy Flower Arrangements Like A Florist Would

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Learning how to make Sympathy Flower Arrangements like a florist would make it takes time, patience and practice. A person may be artistic, but the techniques are what keep arrangements from falling apart, especially sympathy sprays. You do not want to get half way through a funeral and have flowers fall out of the spray you made.

There are two types of sympathy arrangements. One is a basket style, which sits in a container that can be set on a shelf or on the floor. The second style is called a standing spray. The spray is set on a stand with three legs and can get quite showy in their design. Both arrangements are made one sided as no one sees the backs of these when they are in the front of the funeral home by the casket.

To make a spray you would start with the stand and place a block of oasis on the hook. The oasis is full of water and will keep the flowers fresh for the service. There are two schools of thought on which is the next step from here. One recommends you cover the oasis with your greens like leather, and the other technique is to add your flowers first then add the greens. I prefer adding the greens first as then I am less likely to break the flowers when I add them. If you were using palm greens in the back this would also be a good time to add them.

Next come the flowers. I prefer to add from the back and move forward, placing my tallest flowers like gladiolas in the back. Make sure you use a sharp knife and cut your flower on an angle. Do not use scissors as they crimp the flower stem keeping it from being able to drink. Also before you stab the oasis with the stem, make sure you know where you want to place it. If you stick the stem in and them change your mind too often, it will crumble and your arrangement will fall to pieces.

Flowers are added all the way around the oasis in a spray, like in a circle. Though the oasis is a rectangle, most good designers or florists can end up with a round spray by the way he or she cuts the flowers. More common are the oval sprays. The less you cut from the stem, the longer the flower will be when you add it. Use as much of the stem from the flowers as you can. It gives the affect of being larger and worth more money, even though you did not do anything extra.

So after adding the flowers in the back, just keep trimming the ones you want in your arrangement and add them coming forward. Think of stairs, the back would be the tallest stair and the front flowers would be the bottom of the stairs, and the shortest. When you think you are done, look all the way around and see if there are any holes that need to be filled with another flower.

The basket sympathy arrangement is constructed in much the same way except for the oasis. When placing it in the container, you want it to be so snug that it cannot rock. Sometimes it is wise to add wedges of oasis on the sides to keep it from rocking. If it is able to rock, with the tall flowers in the back it can fall right out of the container, so this is a critical step.

Once you get the mechanics down, you can have a lot of fun making floral arrangements. Using the freshest flowers you can purchase will make your arrangements last longer. And always remember to add water to it before it goes out the door.

Bridal and Wedding Shower Favors In Disney Films

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Do you remember as a small child, watching The Little Mermaid or even Beauty and the Beast? As enchanting as these childhood movies were and still are, they had some familiarities. Everyone knows that the Little Mermaid finds love, and of all places it is not under the sea, just like the main character in Beauty and the Beast.

Both of the main characters in these movies meet their very own personal prince charming. Now you know how the plots play out, they fall into forbidden love of sorts, and get married. Now since there are weddings in these two films, how come we never see any bridal shower favors or wedding shower favors? Were these two strikingly and breathtakingly beautiful princesses deprived of a bridal shower? It seems as though old Walt Disney over looked a couple of things while putting these films together.

With Mrs. Tea Pot and Sebastian’s personalities alone, one would normally conclude that surely no stone was left unturned when it came to the timing and planning of the weddings. With movie characters so full of life and energy how could they possibly leave out a bridal shower for their key princesses? I suppose this is not something that children see, or rather don’t see in these films. This is because as we grow older we tend to pay closer attention to the truths in film. I can honestly not think of one single children’s film that has a wedding in it, that actually shows a bridal shower or even mentions one.

Surely if the old philosophy “life imitates art” is true then they should defiantly include something as simple as a bridal shower. I personally can not imagine how something as simple and yet monumental as a bridal shower, was completely left out by the greatest movie makers in all of history. As a child however, I simply did not pay attention to the detail, which is the reason why this little fact did not bother me back then. It is not so much that it bothers me or irritates me now in my adult years, but rather it irritates me by the fact that a company so akin to detail, overlooks and disregards an important one when it comes to fairy tale weddings.

It is not just the bridal showers which they missed. How many films from your childhood that had weddings in them also had bachelor parties in them? I’ll tell you how many, absolutely none! The closest any of us as children ever got to see to bridal or bachelor parties, was in the old Popeye cartoons. Yup that’s right, do you remember Olive being showered with gifts in the episode where Popeye proposed to her? Or how about in that same episode Popeye goes to a boxing match with his friends. These are not actually bachelor or bridal parties and showers; however they are as close as we ever got to seeing them as children.

If you could create your own cartoon with weddings with both bridal showers and bachelor parties in them, how would you go about doing it? Would you make these parties as fairytale like and majestic as the weddings themselves, or would you hint about them and not actually portray them like the Popeye cartoon did? I suppose it is true that some things are to be left to the imagination, especially when it comes to these pre wedding celebrations in childhood films.

Beach Wedding Favors & Golf Wedding Favors

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Well, you decided to get married away from home. Do both of you have family and friends scattered all over the place? That might not be a bad idea then. After all, if you are going to make them fly, you should let them fly to someplace fun. Besides, you can stay after the wedding and honeymoon. When you both picked Hilton Head you picked it for different reasons. He was thinking of a nice little golf wedding with little golf wedding favors while you were thinking of a beach wedding with little beach wedding favors. Oh my, the fur is going to fly on this!

That is not the first time this has happened and certainly won’t be the last as travel weddings become increasingly popular. In reality, both were very fair assumptions. Golf has become a huge sport for men and women. Beach weddings were really the kick off for the whole travel wedding craze. Since so many great golf destinations are on the beach this was just bound to happen. Which one should you do? Is it going to come down to “Rock, Paper, Scissors?”

Golf weddings are pretty straight forward. Assuming you want to get married on the grounds your in good shape. For one, golf courses frequently host large outside events of all sizes and have tents if needed as well. You are also not going to need to worry about the conditions of the greenery, golf courses are known for keeping them immaculate. So you have your chairs, your tent, and the grass is cut. Depending on where you are they might be able to help you out with more but if not there are always rental companies that rent about anything. Again, because they are used to hosting events you should be able to find a suitable room. Hopefully they can prepare the food for you as well (most big ones can) as well as offer servers and do the clean up. Since it was a golf wedding, work to keep that theme going into the reception and keep it fun.

Beach weddings are so romantic and they give you so many options to make them your own. Beach weddings are like snowflakes, there are no two alike. It is really a matter of taste and imagination. If the wedding is on a public beach and you are not from the area you are almost certainly need the help of a local wedding planner, preferable one that does a lot of beach weddings because of all the little nuances involved. The planner will know the best places and the local ordinances you will need to be concerned about, for example how late you can go and can you have a bon fire.

A few things will apply to all beach weddings. For the bride, forget about the train. With all that sand blowing around you will get enough sand with out dragging a rake behind you. Then there is your hair. The wind never stops blowing on the beach so keep that in mind when you try to decide of a hair style. The groom should forget about a tuxedo unless he just wants to burst into flames. An idea that is not too uncommon is to get married in the water. Not in four feet of water, say your vows in enough water to cover your feet. That rules out the traditional wedding dress and the suit but a really cute idea could be conceived. For laughs, make the guests stand in four feet of water!

Whether you choose golf or beach, they both can be well done. It’s all about what makes the bride and groom happy.

Haunting Party Ideas For Your Twilight Themed Party

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

One of the hottest party themes this fall will be the Twilight theme. This party idea is based on the popular book and movie of the same name. They are about the tortured romance between a mortal teenager named Isabella Swan, Bella to her friends, and her vampire lover Edward Cullen. In the book that starts the series Bella leaves sunny Arizona so her mother can start her life with her new husband. Bella goes to live with her father Charlie in gloomy Forks, Washington were the sun rarely shines. It is here that she meets the love of her life only to find out that he is not human and the complications of a love between a human and an immortal soon come in full force.

If you are a “Twi-Hard” this is not news to you as you have probably read the entire series several times and seen the movie as well. What you want to know is how to throw a party that would not only be approved of by fellow fans, but Alice Cullen herself. When planning for this type of party you will need to find great party supplies, favors, and come up with an interesting menu. The great news is that you can draw inspiration from the books and movies for ideas. Here are some to help guide as you plan the ultimate Twilight Bash.

You need to think about your decorations first. The color palette for your party will be red, black, and white as reminiscent of the book covers for the series. So make sure to get the basics in these colors. That means balloons, streamers, twinkle lights, and paper decorations. Also use images from the book covers as you main motifs. These would be the apple, tulip, red ribbon, and chess board pieces. These will make your guests feel as if they stepped into the book covers.

Next think about the atmosphere of the party. The keys to setting the right mood will be music and lighting. For lighting go with candles and try to get them in your party’s colors. You can also go for colored candle holders to add to the mood. The next thing to focus on is the music. Music can make or break a party. An excellent place to start is with the playlist the author of the Twilight series, Stephanie Meyers, used to inspire her as she wrote the book. They are available on her website. Also you can draw inspiration from the movie soundtrack. Also don’t just stop there extrapolate with more of the artists’ work. For example, a song by the band Paramore is the key song for the movie. Try using more of their music. It will add variety but at the same time keep the mood of the party going.

Finally you got to have food. I’ve looked around the net and found a lot of great suggestions. First off this is a vampire romance we are using as our theme so go with red drinks. It can be cool aid, cranberry juice, or grape juice for younger party attendants or red alcoholic drinks for the older crowd. Another great suggestion is to have an ice cream bar with strawberry syrup and red candy toppings. You can also have some key foods mentioned in the book like pizza, lasagna, or mushroom ravioli.

Give Camera Wedding Favors To Capture Special Moments

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

This fall one of the things that you will be thinking about as you plan your wedding is wedding favors. These are items that you give as thanks to your guest for coming to your ceremony and reception. The can be various items from stationary to refrigerator magnets and water bottles. As long as they match your theme they are appropriate. In the end their main function is to be mementos and souvenir of your special day for your guests. If you are looking for an item that does that why not give personalized disposable cameras as favors? These are great because guest can use them to take personal photos of the festivities and the unique cameras can be kept as souvenirs themselves. Here are some ideas of how to add a special touch to your cameras.

First off, think about the theme of your ceremony. You can get cameras with covers that match whatever theme that you finally settle on. You can find all kinds on the internet or at a local bridal store that has them in stock. You can find some that are in your weddings chosen colors or find some with the images or motifs that match your decoration idea. The reason to do so is that they will be souvenirs of your wedding day. So having them match the design motif for you events will only make them better mementos and favors for your guests.

Another great option is to get them personalized. This is a great way to add a more intimate touch to your camera favors. There are several options that you can use. First you can go with Monograms these are stylized versions of you and your groom’s initials that can be applied to the disposable camera covers. These are great because they add a personal touch to your favors in an elegant and simple way. Another option is to have a photo of you and the groom on them. This is a great idea because of the visual remind and the ironic fact that it is a photo on a camera. Finally you can have inscriptions on it. This is perfect if you want to put favorite quotes or bible scriptures on your cameras. This way you will be able to convey some the words of wisdom you and your groom consider important.

Finally try pairing your camera gifts with related favors. For example a pocket photo album is a great idea. These are pocket sized photo albums so that your guest can bring out photos of their favorite moments at any time or place. Some come with key rings so they can also be used to hold keys. Another great option is picture frames. They are quite versatile and can come in all shapes and sizes. You can add extra impact to your set of gifts with sterling silver or crystal frames. You can also add some with novel with musical photo frames. Use your imagination and the full selection available. Whatever you choose they will increase the impact of your camera gift and show that you put effort into picking it out.

In the end cameras are perfect record keepers of special moments. Giving them as gifts will be a way to help your guests preserve their own memories of your wedding. This will make it all the more special and meaningful.

Groomsmen 101

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

It just might not be possible to pull off a good wedding with out the bridesmaids and their counter part, the groomsmen. After all they do for you to help pull of a perfect wedding; you will understand why they get groomsmen gifts. The groomsman gifts are the least you can do to thank them for all their help and sacrifice. Just think how much you’d have to pay some one to put up with you as you are stressing out about the wedding and to be a “Johnny-on-the-spot” for you on the big day!

The groomsmen of today have it pretty easy. Well, easy compared to their medieval counterparts. Back in the days of yore, they would travel with the groom great distances, by standards of the day, and were expected to do battle with the highwaymen and roving hordes of bandits. Meanwhile, the second in command, the best man, would guard the ring with his life. They were very much a protection detail to get the groom to the wedding alive. While there is no need for that now, it would still be bad form to allow the groom to get mugged on the way to the alter! Nowadays things are much safer for the groomsmen but their responsibilities are just as important.

They are now the male contingent to the wedding party. They are expected to attend the engagement party, the rehearsal dinner and the ceremony. Then of course the men’s wedding shower, the bachelor party. During all this, they are expected to give gift at the same places as the rest of the guest. They are also expected to pay for their tuxedo and, if they have to travel, the cost of their accommodations. With the bachelor party they are expected to pay for themselves and a share of the grooms cost. While a bit of debauchery is expected, they are also not to get the groom into trouble with the future Mrs. nor let him do that to him self. At the wedding itself they often serve as ushers but then march with the bridesmaids to the alter. During the reception they dance with the bridesmaids at the appointed songs. Later, as the bridesmaids are doing hostess duties, the groomsmen are the muscle. Not like beating people up and such, but helping move the gifts and other thing that would look odd to see a bridesmaids do (move a table or chair).

With all they do it is customary to give the grooms men a gift. This is usually done before the bachelor party or right before the wedding. Right before the wedding tends to be a very good time because it is right before they are forced to stand through the taking of the wedding photos and when they are performing their most important task, moral support. They should have been doing that all along but today it is most important.

There is no etiquette on how much to spend or rather they should all be the same or individual, it is up to the groom. Take some time to think about it and put the same effort into your choice as they have been taking in your wedding. Maybe get them all tickets to a ball game next year or personalized item for each that reflect the groomsman. The choice is yours.

The Essentials of Bath and Soap Wedding Favors

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Giving out wedding favors has become a tradition as a way to thank the guests for attending and aiding in making the day as perfect as possible. There are many different types of favors that can be ordered to fit into any theme the couple chooses. One popular item is decorative soaps and bath supplies. That is why some couples clean up with bath and soap wedding favors.

Bath favors can be anything a person would use in the bathroom. Most are decorative in nature to enhance the appearance of the room they are located in. Bath oils and beads, soaps and personal grooming aids such as pedicure or manicure sets are good examples of bath wedding favors.

Different decoratively shaped pieces of soap molded in a variety of shapes and having different scents make good soap wedding favors. Some can produce a bath full of bubbles that a person can soak in luxuriously. Many have different scents, others are merely pretty to look at. Different soaps can be shaped differently and dyed to be matched to any theme or dcor chosen by the couple.

Bath and soap wedding favors are mostly small, inexpensive items that can be placed at each place at the reception as special “Thank you” gifts for the guests. Some can have the names of the bride and groom and the date of the ceremony added to either the packaging or the items themselves to make them more personal and unique gifts.

Most couples find that they are able to locate a much larger selection of bath and soap wedding favors by shopping at online stores than by limiting themselves to what is available in local bridal shops. This is because online stores do not have the same problem of limited display space that local stores have. They also find that prices are generally lower shopping online than in local stores because of the difference in the competition for business. Due to the fact that online stores have much more competition than local shops they generally have to have lower prices.

It can also provide the couple with a much needed break to shop for bath and soap wedding favors. It is common knowledge that the planning process can be very stressful, and that couples sometimes need to take a break to collect themselves.

Wedding favors are traditionally given as “Thank you” gifts to the guests to convey their gratitude in a better way than sending out cards once it is over. These are normally given as keepsakes for the guests to keep as mementos of the occasion to help them remember the happiness shared with the couple on their special day. Bath and soap wedding favors really clean up as they are given to the guests as thanks for attending.
