Top Kitchen Appliances In Interior Design

A kitchen with a nice and stylish design is one that will be often enjoyed. A cooking area should already have a proper design element to it, being as its a well-used room in the home. This is even more important for entertaining guests and holding small dinner parties.

Old kitchens have refrigerators that work, but don’t necessarily look stylish or function as well as newer models. A kitchen budget must make room for a refrigerator that can store an abundance of food, make ice automatically, or even have the freezer portion on the bottom for easy access. New refrigerators also use less electricity, so they will eventually attempt to pay their own price tag off over the years.

The kitchen island is a phrase used to describe the sectional table that is present in most kitchens. This table will often have a stove top, dining area, and sometimes a sink depending on its size. The kitchen island is the focal point of the kitchen, so it should be designed with nice counter tops and accompanying bar stools. Don’t forget low hanging lights for a more intimate feel to the island.

A very “hot” product right now is the enclosed stove top design. This design is much like what you would see in a Japanese bistro or grill: having a simplistic design that makes the stove appear as if it is part of the counter it resides on. This requires special counter development and a certain type of stove top, so do expect to pay quite the chunk of change for your own piece of Japan cuisine.

The floor of your kitchen could potentially be your biggest spend. A nice floor is expensive, but that depends on the degree of elegance you are looking for. A nice hardwood floor is the best way to go, as they are somewhat inexpensive, look great, and are easy to clean. You can splurge by having granite, marble, and stone floors. Just keep in mind they can be cold to the touch in months that are colder than normal.

Don’t forget that a kitchen should be fun- not just stylish. Invest in cool gadgets to personalize your kitchen experience. You might buy ice cube trays in the shape of Tetris blocks, for instance! Other ideas could include custom LED lighting for your faucet, or even a faucet that can turn itself off with a single touch. Your creativity can run wild here even on small budgets.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to allow your kitchen be a disaster zone for months at a time. Have an interior design specialist do the work for you in a month or less. Outsourcing allows you to see a finished project without having to go through the stress, and can even save you money in some instances.

Choosing The Right Furnishings Really Can Revitalize Your Home

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Should you be fortunate enough to be able to have some sort of bar inside or around your kitchen, you already know what a practical piece of furniture a bar nook could be. Those who are living without having a bar really don’t understand that it brings space as well as seating options as well as just how it makes it possible for the entire family to gather for short or long times in a setting a lot more casual compared to gathering at the kitchen table.

Our kitchen bar is now the actual getting together place for my youngsters both just before as well as right after school. We all use that location so much that my wife and I knew we had to be intentional concerning deciding on the best bar furnishings.

Being an interior designer, I’m continually providing people with suggestions about building their own ideal homes. Some sort of bar nook is truly one of those locations which I normally encourage people to spend a little more time, energy and money remaining enthusiastic about.

I only say this because of the frequency with which most people use their own bar nooks. My suggestions to people is that they will make use of their bars even more when they make an effort to do it properly. I share with them that a bar nook can become one of the primary gathering locations for their families. Bar furniture is really a essential stage to making this excellent atmosphere.

Clearly, you want your own bar furnishings to complement the design, style and feel of your kitchen and also dining area, so don’t be too quick to hurry off into options which will make your bar nook stand out an excessive amount.

One of several key features of any bar nook would be that the furnishings ought to be relaxing. Not one person will stay in the area very long if it’s uncomfortable, so consider longevity and comfort whenever you are searching for the right bar furniture. Get several magazines and catalogs and get ideas from some other peoples homes. See just what works as well as discover just what will not look good in the bar area.

Magazines and catalogs are one of the very best options for creativeness, therefore use this source and gradually collect creative ideas for your bar nook furnishings. If you have some sort of interior designer working with you, she or he can really help you make this area useful.

If you have been thinking about adding a bar nook or even an electric fireplace to your home, you can find the best prices and a large selection of home furnishings at West Furnishings, you can find us at: Home Office.

Fast And Easy Guide To King And Queen Size Bed Dimensions

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Buying a bed is a large undertaking, and mattresses are very expensive anyway. So why not go for the luxury and comfort of the King and Queen size bed dimensions? They are, in actuality, only a couple hundred dollars more than a double bed but can offer twice the comfort.

The actual dimensions of the beds stand thus by North American standards: a queen size mattress is 60 inches across and 80 inches long. This is only a few inches larger ( in either direction) than a full, or double, mattress which stands at 54 inches wide by 75 inches long.

Though the difference sounds like a great deal, you will be surprised when you see the mattresses side by side; a queen is not very much bigger at all. Have the salesperson measure out the size of a full mattress on a queen mattress. You will then have to decide if the span of a few fingers in either direction is worth the cost of the ‘bigger’ mattress.

The king mattress, however, lives up to its name. It is a great deal larger, being 6 feet, 6 inches across and 6 feet, 8 inches long! That is ample space for any couple, and perhaps too much space for a single person.

There is one footnote about king size beds, however. Stores also offer something called the super king or California king mattress. These beds are 6 feet across by 7 feet long. Very tall people are grateful for these mattresses, but for a person of average height, these beds are superfluous, especially considering how hard it is to find sheets for them.

There are other space considerations: namely, the space you will have left if your bedroom if you buy a king size mattress. Will you be able to maneuver freely? If not, is the bed still worth it? And if you buy a king size mattress, what box spring situation would you prefer, one large box spring or two smaller ones?

One other thing to consider–something that has been under debate and study for quite a while–is the closeness of a relationship when buying a large bed. If you share a bed, it has been argued that the nearness with which a couple sleeps is in direct proportion to their closeness as a couple. Whether this is true or not is anyone’s guess, but make sure you and your partner understand what it will really be like to sleep closer or farther apart.

Queen Size Bed Dimensions can be a bit confusing. Queen Size Bed Measurements can vary not only from country to country but between manufacturers as well. Visit us and we’ll help you sort it out!

Home Movie Theater Lighting

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to remodelredecorate a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For instance, you could start by abandoning the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

My suggestion would be to install four or even six small wall-lights; these are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any pocket. The only drawback with wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be chased into the wall so as not to appear unsightly.

But, you could avoid this by using standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two disadvantages: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are very easily moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class of this alternative, but you may need more electrical sockets.

Once you have decided on what you want, have each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately, up to you. You should probably keep one fairly powerful light at the business end of things in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lights higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever type of home theater lighting you are looking for, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to choose from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them online or in home improvement stores. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

And, when you do make the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will ” guaranteed ” enhance your home theater experience. It may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a completely different light.
