There are as many variations of weddings as there are variations of budgets. You can do whatever you desire so long as it fits within the budget you’ve set out (or the budget of those paying for your wedding). But don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t sound like enough money to get everything you want. You’d be amazed what you can leave out and never miss!
Spending money you don’t have, by going into debt, for your wedding is probably not a smart move. Do you really want to spend the next 10 years paying off your wedding costs? I don’t. However, find the things that matter to you the most and go with those. Then cut back in areas that maybe don’t concern you as much.
With all the services you could buy, there are many that you could leave out.
Here’s a list of products/services you could buy:
- Beauty Services
- Hair
- Makeup
- Nails
- Tanning
- Bridal Attire
- Accessories
- Dress
- Lingerie
- Preservation
- Shoes
- Veil
- Bridal Consultant/Coordinator
- Wedding Cakes
- Decorations
- DJ & Entertainment
- Favors
- Flowers
- Preservation
- Reception Flowers
- Bouquets
- Formal Wear
- Gifts & Registry
- Honeymoon
- Stateside
- International
- Cruises
- All Inclusive Resorts
- Ice Sculptures
- Invitations
- Limousine
- Photographers
- Reception Sites
- Videographers
- Wedding Rings
You may not choose to leave any of these out but you can certainly change how you’re spending your money.
For example: for your honeymoon, you could spend it nearby and save possibly thousands of dollars. Or if you’re looking for something exotic on the cheap, you can take a cruise and see many wonderful things but inexpensively. Of course, you can always look at all inclusive resorts so you have a set budget.
Your wedding rings may be less expensive depending on what type of metal and diamonds you choose. Be sure to ask, if price is an issue, so that your jeweler can help you find something beautiful within your budget. Remember, it’s supposed to be two months salary but just about anything goes nowadays.
Once you begin to think in terms of having what you want and not what you think everyone expects, it becomes a lot more fun to plan your wedding.
